Russell Brand jokes about divorce

1 min read

Presenter and comedian Russell Brand joked about his divorce from pop singer Katy Perry during a recent appearance on daytime chat show Lorraine.

The 37 year-old, known for his eccentric delivery and flamboyant clothing, told Lorraine Kelly: “I suppose the divorce is difficult because of the admin. There’s a lot of admin.”

Brand married 28 year-old Katy Perry in October 2010 in a colourful Hindu ceremony near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary in Rajasthan, India. But the marriage only last 14 months. The singer filed for divorce at the end of last year citing irreconcilable differences. A judge granted the divorce in February, but it was not finalised until July as Californian law requires a six month waiting period.

Brand told Lorraine that he still loves Perry despite the divorce:

“When I was married it did work out in a way because I was married for some time and that’s really good and then you’re not married and that’s really good. You just have to have acceptance of things.”

He added: “She’s a person that I love but now this a new time. We were suited for that amount of time but this is a new time.”
