Melanie Dawes

Day to day role

Melanie works as a Legal Assistant providing assistance and support to our lawyers in the Beverley office, dealing with various tasks including preparation of documentation to be filed at court, assisting the lawyers to ensure deadlines are met prior to hearings, particularly the preparation of court bundles.  She has contact with clients on a regular basis and assists where she can in the absence of the lawyers ensuring that their queries are dealt with and updates provided to them.   She regularly communicates with the courts for updates on cases.

Career History/experience

Melanie has worked in the legal field for over 36 years  – and over 20 years legal experience in family law. She gained a Paralegal BTech Foundation Level 3 qualification and went on to gain a Specialist Paralegal Practitioner qualification in April 2010 through Central Law Training at the University of the West of England.

Outside of work

Melanie is a keen crafter and enjoys making things for family, friends and occasionally for charities. She also loves cake decorating, reading, is a keen gardener and enjoys walks in the countryside.
